For those who are unfamiliar with the event, the Fort Lauderdale Major is an international beach volleyball tournament where players from across the globe compete to win the Major Series title. This event is put on by the Beach Volleyball Major Series which hosts games all around the world. But this year, it’s not all about volleyball. The Major Series has added a bunch of parties for everyone to enjoy throughout the week after watching those action-packed matches during the day.
The Fort Lauderdale Major kicked off on Thursday, February 22nd at the beautiful Pillars Hotel on Ft. Lauderdale Beach and will continue through Sunday March 4th. Thursday night’s event was a cocktail party that hosted some esteemed members of the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale community, as well as attendees of the upcoming events, and even some of the players themselves. The event including opening remarks explaining what was to come and some tasty hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Of course our favorite part was the food, but that’s to be expected. We loved the little crab cakes served throughout the party. The night was perfect and the venue was beautiful, an amazing start to the FTL Major event. This means there’s a lot to look forward to in the upcoming events.
So let’s talk about all the fun events you and your friends can attend throughout this week in addition to the matches during the day (schedule available here):
Beach Club at The Beach Village
Wednesday – Thursday (2 PM – 11 PM), Friday – Saturday (10 AM – 11 PM), Sunday (10 AM – 3 PM)
Grab some friends, get some cold drinks, and chill out after a hot Florida day. There will be International DJ’s transforming Ft. Lauderdale beach into party central. The best part is, this will be happening every day! So be sure to take advantage.
Cocktails with The Champions at the Beach
Thursday – Doors open at 7 PM
This is the event we’re looking forward to the most. Cocktails with The Champions will offer some amazing bites from the world renowned caterers DO&CO, who will be whipping up some authentic Austrian food like schnitzel and strudel. You do not want to miss out on this. You may even run into some Olympic and World champions while you’re there! For more info and ticket purchasing click here.
College Night at America's Backyard
Thursday (10pm - 4am)
Join in on the fun with some fellow students after watching your favorite teams match up throughout the day. This will be another hot party with great music and drinks. So grab some tickets to Cocktails with The Champions to fuel up with some food and then head on over to College night right after. You have plenty of time to join in on the fun since the party will be going until 4 AM.
International Block Party at the Beachfront
Friday (10pm – 4am)
Another one of our favorite upcoming events is the International Block Party. Drink around the world without ever leaving the room! You can get your block party pass stamped at each bar you attend after you enjoy some special drinks at each bar that represents a different country. Here are some of the bars you can expect to make an appearance:

Blondies Sports Bar (Austria – enjoy Jägermeister with Red bull, the famous “Flying Hirsch”),

Official Beach Party at Stache
March 3: 10pm – 4am
If you aren’t all partied out yet, check out the Official Beach Party that will be the last of the big parties as part of the FTL Major event. Don’t miss out on one of the last chances to get some drinks and fun.
